Coal Merchants Federation

The Coal Merchants Federation of Great Britain (CMF)  now represents a merging of the retail and wholesale distributive coal trade associations. The retail division includes 12 regional associations, with the Coal Merchants Association of Scotland Ltd as an affiliated member. All retail merchant members are also members of the Approved Coal Merchants Scheme and agree to uphold its Code of Practice.

What we do

  • CMF members enjoy a range of benefits including: discounted insurance; advice & training packs on legal and health/safety issues.
  • The CMF also acts as the coordinating body for liaison with coal producers, industry associations and government agencies & departments, as well as giving general information on the retail or wholesale distribution of domestic solid fuel and passing enquiries from importers and exporters to members.
  • The Coal Merchants Federation is a member body of the Solid Fuel Association having representatives on the National Panel and Area Panels of the Approved Coal Merchants Scheme.

We support the Approved Coal Merchants & Wood Merchants Schemes

Why use an Approved Coal Merchant? The answer is simple.  All coal merchants who belong to the Approved Coal Merchants Scheme support and follow the Coal Trade Code.
